LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Varsity Soccer Field will have the chance to show off its recent Phase III enhancements to the whole country when the Bison men's soccer team hosts Lehigh Nov. 2 in the NSCAA College Match of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel, it was announced Wednesday. The game, which will be broadcast live nationally and feature the defending Patriot League regular season and postseason champions, will kick off at 8 p.m.
Bucknell, which won the Patriot League Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last fall, is expected to be in the mix for another title in the always competitive Patriot League after losing just one senior to graduation. Lehigh, which was the No. 1 seed in the 2006 Patriot League Tournament and lost to the Bison in the semifinals, is ranked No. 19 nationally by the NSCAA in its preseason poll.
There will be a total of 12 NCAA Division I men's soccer games on Fox Soccer Channel in 2007. The schedule begins when Tulsa and Virginia Tech play on Sept. 14. The Bucknell-Lehigh matchup is the lone contest to feature Patriot League squads. A total of 14 teams ranked in the NSCAA Preseason Poll are slated to appear on Fox Soccer Channel, including preseason No. 1 UC Santa Barbara.
Accomplished soccer broadcasters Steve Bell, Brad Feldman, Dave Johnson, Dean Linke and Mark Rogondino will share the play-by-play responsibilities throughout the season.
Fox Soccer Channel reaches more than 30 million cable and satellite households in the U.S. and Caribbean and is available on DirecTV channel 613 as well as Dish Network channel 149.
Bucknell began its preseason practice this week and is slated to open its 2007 season Aug. 31 against Northern Illinois at the Northwestern Lakeside Classic. The Bison play their first home match Sept. 11 against Binghamton at 4 p.m.
