LEWISBURG, Pa. - Dan Schupsky, former assistant men's swimming coach at The College of New Jersey, and Liz Tierney, who has worked with several swimming programs at the club and Division III levels, will join the Bison as assistant coaches in 2007-08, Bucknell swimming and diving head coach Dan Schinnerer announced on Tuesday.
Schupsky, who graduated from TCNJ in 2001 with a bachelor of science in physics and secondary education, served a dual role as both an assistant coach for the Lions and as the aquatics graduate assistant since beginning work on a master's degree in education in 2005. He also spent time as the head YMCA summer swim coach at the Hunterdon County YMCA and was the boy's head swimming coach at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, N.J.
"Dan brings a great deal of energy and enthusiasm to our program," said Schinnerer. "He was an integral part of helping The College of New Jersey rise through the ranks of Division III swimming. His experience and motivation will help our program as we look to continue to reach new heights. His knowledge of coaching technique and swimmer development will be a great asset to the program."
As an undergraduate, Schupsky was a four-time NCAA qualifier at TCNJ and garnered 17 All-America honors as well as two Academic All-America selections while also setting six school records. The two-year captain of the Lions was the METRO Conference Rookie of the Year in 1997 and went on to collect three METRO Conference Swimmer of the Meet awards, while being named TCNJ's Most Valuable Swimmer all three years as well.

"Liz brings an array of coaching experiences to Bucknell," said Schinnerer. "She has worked both as a head coach at a D-III level and as an assistant at one of the top club programs in the country. She also has a strong background in sports psychology and team building, which will be a great benefit to the team. In addition, her time at the Irvine NOVAs has taught her creative and cutting edge training techniques."
Tierney, who is expected to complete her master's in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport psychology from Long Beach State this August, had served as head men's and women's swimming coach at Ripon College from 2003-04 prior to relocating to the West Coast. In her one season at the helm for the Red Hawks, she was named the 2003-04 Midwest Conference Men's Coach of the Year.
A letterwinner for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from 1999-2003, Tierney was a 12-time WIAC Conference finalist while competing for the Titans. She set school records in the 200-yard breastroke and the 200 butterfly and was named team captain and MVP in 2002-03.
