Bucknell Women's Tennis Blanked by Delaware, 7-0, in Regular Season Finale

NEWARK, Del. - The Bucknell women's tennis team fell to Delaware, 7-0, in its final regular season match on Tuesday. The Bison reserves were in action while Bucknell's starting top-four players were idle as they rest up for this weekend's Patriot League Tournament in Bethlehem, Pa., on the campus of Lehigh. Bucknell, now 6-15 (2-2), earned the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6 Holy Cross on Saturday, Apr. 28, at 1 p.m., in the quarterfinals. The winner will meet No. 2 Colgate in the semifinals.
The team of junior Caitlin Baffa (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) and sophomore Camille Simonetti (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) were defeated by Elena Berry and Amanda Campbell, 8-3, in the No. 1 spot. The freshmen pair of Kirstyn Sotak (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) and Renee Weissend (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) fell in the No. 2 spot, 8-3, to Alexa Dragonette and Brittany Barsky, while the sophomore duo of Tiffany Card (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) and JoAnna Grossman (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) lost to Julie Schiller and Liz Perlow, 8-1, in the No. 3 spot.
In the No. 1 singles spot, Baffa was defeated by Berry, 6-3, 6-0, while Sotak fell to Campbell, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot. Perlow beat Weissend in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2, to clinch the victory for the Fightin' Blue Hens. Grossman fell to Dragonette 8-1, in the No. 4 spot, while Simonetti lost to Laura Honig, 8-4, in the No. 5 spot. In the No. 6 spot, Card was taken down by Kristen Mueller, 8-5.
