LEWISBURG, Pa. - Former Bucknell men's soccer player Michael Lookingland was recently named to the Major Indoor Soccer League's All-Rookie Team following his first full campaign with his hometown Baltimore Blast. The two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year tallied five goals and four assists in 30 games with the Blast this season.
"The program is very proud of Mike's recent accomplishments with Baltimore," commented Bucknell head coach Brendan Nash, who tutored Lookingland in each of his four seasons as a Bison. "In transitioning from outdoor to indoor he had to improve his overall game as well as make adjustments. We are not surprised he was recognized for his play since we constantly asked him to improve certain aspects of his fame and he never disappointed us. Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long and healthy professional soccer career for Mike."
Lookingland scored the first three goals of his career when he recorded a hat trick in a 20-9 win over the California Cougars in January. Later, he proceeded to tally assists in four consecutive games for the defending MISL champions. The Blast concluded the season with the best defense in the league, allowing just 322 goals, but fell one win short of the playoffs.

Following his senior season when he led Bucknell to a Patriot League Tournament berth, Lookingland copped a number of postseason awards. Along with earning a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team for the second consecutive year, he was named First Team All-Region by the NSCAA for the third straight year and was honored as a Third Team All-American by College Soccer News.
A starter in all 76 games during his time in Lewisburg, and a three-time member of the All-Patriot League squads, Lookingland became just the second two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. A team co-captain, Lookingland was an integral part of a defense that posted four shutouts and allowed just 27 goals his final campaign in Orange and Blue. In addition to his defensive abilities, the Fallston, Md., native scored one goal and assisted on another as a senior.
This summer, Lookingland will join the Harrisburg City Islanders, a member of the United Soccer League's Second Division, as he returns to outdoor soccer. The City Islanders kick off their 2007 campaign this Saturday, April 21, when they host the Wilmington Hammerheads at the Skyline Sports Complex.
