LEWISBURG, Pa - On Monday, the Bucknell field hockey program placed 14 student-athletes on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad. The Bison were also honored as a team for having a 3.00 grade-point average or higher.
Bucknell produced more student-athletes on the academic list than any Patriot League team. To be selected to this list, the student-athlete must posses a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher. This past fall, the Bison landed 19 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll list, which was the most in the league.
"I am so proud of our program and the number of student-athletes represented on the National Academic Squad," said 15-year head coach Heather Lewis. "While we're a bit disappointed in not reaching our team goal of having the highest team GPA in the nation, that should not take away from an outstanding classroom performance this past fall."
The following are Bucknell's 2006 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad members.
