With our season a week out from Patriots, taper is in full bloom. Yards are dropping, but the intensity is still there. The guys are focused on the little things. The sprinters are working over the specifics of our starts, where we're going to breathe, and nailing our turns. With the drop in yards comes an influx of smiles and laughs. Although taking our final training seriously, the guys are still cracking jokes and playing pranks. This attitude has just really summed up my experience at Bucknell -- we're working our hardest and committed to the task at hand, but still taking everything in stride and enjoying everything life throws at us.
Three-and-one-half years ago I never thought I would be in this position, captain of a competitive Division I swimming program. I have just such great memories of my four years of swimming and they bring a smile to my face every time I think about it. My experiences at Bucknell University, and with Bucknell Swimming & Diving more specifically, have been the best four years of my life. I've meet so many great people. I have fought through all the struggles of hard training and experienced the happiness and great victories. It's crazy to think that my swimming and college experiences are coming to an end. But I am excited to go out with a bang!
