Four Bison Honored By Patriot League

LEWISBURG, Pa - On Tuesday, Bucknell indoor track and field seniors Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten), Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./Wysalusing Valley) and Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and freshman Sean Coyne (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) were recognized by the Patriot League for their strong performances at the Akron Open this past weekend.
For the fifth time this season and for the fourth straight week, Grap was named Female Field Performer of the Week. The Van Etten, N.Y., native launched a distance of 64 feet, 5 ¾ inches (19.65m), which was an NCAA provisional and ECAC-qualifying mark. She also holds the top throw in the league. Grap also finished fourth in the shot put throwing for a length of 43-11 ¾ (13.40m).
Stevens became the second Bison to be named the Female Track Performer of the Week after she posted an ECAC-qualifying time of 17 minutes, 30.78 seconds in the 5,000-meter run at the Akron Open. She also notched the fastest time in the league.
Hoffman was tabbed Male Field Performer of the Week for the third-straight week, throwing for a distance of 61-4 ¼ (18.70m) in the 35-lb weight throw, which was good for sixth-place at the Akron Open. His toss was also an IC4A-qualifying mark. The Lewisburg, Pa., native holds the top mark in the league in the weight throw this season.
Coyne was named Male Rookie of the Week after notching a personal best in the 200 with a time of 22.90, which was good for 12th place. He also finished 10th in the 400 with a time of 50.97.
The Bucknell indoor track and field teams will host the 18th annual Bucknell Winter Classic in Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10 a.m. The Bison will also travel to University Park, Pa. to participate in the two-day Sykes-Sabok Challenge Cup on the campus of Penn State University starting on Friday, Feb. 9, at 5:30 p.m.
