LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior center Chris McNaughton (Leutershausen, Germany/Dientzenhofer Gymanasium) has been named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the Bison men's basketball team to two more Patriot League victories last week.
McNaughton had 12 points and nine rebounds in a 56-53 win at Colgate last Tuesday, then he posted 13 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in Friday's 78-63 road victory at Navy. The 6'11" McNaughton, who was named the Preseason Patriot League Player of the Year, is averaging 12.0 points and 9.2 rebounds during Bucknell's current six-game winning streak.
McNaughton currently ranks second in the Patriot League in field goal percentage (.543), fourth in rebounding (5.4) and 14th in scoring (10.4), and he ranks first in field-goal accuracy in league games (.606).
Thanks to his presence inside, Bucknell is outscoring Patriot League foes 230-128 in the paint thus far, including a 54-24 margin in the two victories last week. McNaughton currently ranks eighth on Bucknell's all-time scoring list with 1,387 points. He has played in all 116 career games, seven shy of the school record.
Now 14-8 overall and 8-1 in Patriot League play, the Bison are in second place in the league standings, one game behind first-place Holy Cross. Bucknell visits American on Tuesday night, then hosts Holy Cross on Friday at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
