LEWISBURG, Pa. -- With its 54-49 win at Army on Saturday, the Bucknell men's basketball team captured the Patriot League regular-season title with a 13-1 conference record. On Sunday afternoon, Holy Cross also got to 13-1 and gained a share of the regular-season title with a 62-50 victory at Lehigh.
Since Bucknell and Holy Cross split their two meetings this season and swept every other team in the league, the Patriot League Tournament No. 1 seed will be determined by higher RPI. According to the league's published tiebreaker procedure, Monday's Collegiate Basketball News RPI report (located at RPIRatings.com) will be used to determine the top seed.
Holy Cross is projected to win that tiebreaker. RPI replicator RealTimeRPI.com, for example, listed Holy Cross' RPI at 68 and Bucknell's at 90 following the Crusaders' win on Sunday afternoon.
As the No. 2 seed, Bucknell would host No. 7 Navy in a tournament quarterfinal game at Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Holy Cross as the top seed would host No. 8 Lafayette.
The other two quarterfinal games are set. No. 3 Lehigh hosts No. 6 Army, and No. 4 American hosts No. 5 Colgate.
Tickets to Bucknell's first-round home game can be purchased in person at the Campus Box Office, over the phone, or online. Click HERE for more information.
Bucknell's win over Army was its 12th in a row, matching the team's longest winning streak since 1919. The Bison also improved to 20-8 overall, giving them three straight 20-win seasons for the first time in program history.
