Bucknell Field Hockey Announces Season Award Winners

LEWISBURG, Pa - Seniors Callista Costopoulos (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry), Heather Rogers (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney), and Katie Urosevich (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), along with junior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley), and sophomore Steph Graf (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) were honored with the Class of '96 Awards for their outstanding contributions to the Bucknell field hockey program, Bison head coach Heather Lewis recently announced.
Rogers received the Marja Bakermans for Loyalty, which recognizes the true spirit of the individual who, in an unselfish manner and positive attitude, sacrifices individual pursuits for the benefit of team accomplishments. The Wyoming, Del., native saw action in 11 contest with two starts.
Graf, who was tabbed Second Team All-Patriot League and as well as Second Team All-NFHCA, was awarded the Tracy Bass Award for Intensity, which recognizes the true of the individual who, in every practice and game opportunity, competes at her fullest potential. Graf started in all 17 games for the Bison. She led the squad and the league in defensive saves with five. She also tallied four assists.
Hoffman, who was honored with the Carolyn Zesk Award for Academic Excellence in 2005, received the Elizabeth Goodall Award for Merit. The award recognizes the true spirit of the individual who, through an impeccable work ethic, is driven to excel in the sport of field hockey. Hoffman started all 17 games for Bucknell. She joined Graf on the All-Patriot League second team this past season. She notched two goals and two assists for six points.
Urosevich earned the Sally Keith Award for Character, which recognizes the true spirit of the individual who, through her personality and determination, provides leadership and strength to all of her teammates. The Lewisburg, Pa., native and co-captain was named First Team All-Patriot League. She started all 17 games for the Orange and Blue. Urosevich posted seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Her 17 points was good for second place on the squad and tenth in the Patriot League.
Costopoulos, a 2006 co-captain, received the Carolyn Zesk Award for Academic Excellence, which recognizes the true spirit of the individual who, through perseverance, diligence, and flexibility, excels in both academics and athletics. She finished the season with five goals and two assists for 12 points. Costopoulos started 16 of 17 games.
Bucknell finished the 2006 season 7-10 (1-4 PL) and qualified for the Patriot League Tournament for the third consecutive year. The Bison fell to American, 4-2, in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament.
