LEWISBURG, Pa. - Once again, the Bucknell men's and women's soccer teams were among the teams honored with the National Soccer Coaches of America Team Academic Award, it was announced recently. The honor is presented annually to squads that post a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher the previous academic year. Bucknell was one of just 71 schools nationally to have both its men's and women's programs recognized.
Lauren Stoller, an Academic All-District selection, helped the Bison women's soccer team earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award. |
The Bison men posted a GPA of 3.25 to appear in the rankings for the 11th time in the last 13 years. They were 19th of the 111 men's teams honored, and were sixth among Division I teams.
In addition to the academic success, both Bucknell squads had strong 2007 campaigns. The women claimed the Patriot League regular-season title with a 5-1-1 conference mark and finished 11-8-1 overall. The men, who won the 2006 Patriot League title, finished third in the final Patriot League standings. They posted an overall record of 9-5-5 this fall and lost on penalty kicks to Colgate in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
