LEWISBURG, Pa. - Kristina Collymore (Montclair, N.J./Montclair), a senior guard on the Bucknell women's basketball team, was named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week Monday, following a week in which she posted the best game of her four-year career. Last Monday against Howard, Collymore led the Bison to their first win of the year as she equaled her career high with 14 points, dished out a career-high 11 assists, and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds.
Collymore earned her second start of the season against Howard and made an immediate impact, dishing out nine of her assists before halftime. She came just two rebounds shy of registering Bucknell's first triple-double since Molly Creamer had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Cleveland State Jan. 3, 2001. It was the first double-double of Collymore's career.
The co-captain also tallied nine points in a 74-63 loss at Cornell on Sunday. Her 23 total points in back-to-back games is the highest two-game total of her career.
Collymore, who has started three of Bucknell's five games this year, is averaging a career-best 7.4 points per game to stand fourth on the team. She paces the squad with a .538 field goal percentage and has a team-best 17 assists, eclipsing her total from all of last year.
Collymore and her Bison teammates will continue their three-game road trip Wednesday, Nov. 28, when they play at Binghamton. Tip off for the non-league contest is slated for 7 p.m.
