BISON WOMEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK
About the Series with Navy
- In the all-time series between Bucknell and Navy, which began on Oct. 29, 1995, the Midshipmen hold a 9-5-1 advantage. However, the Bison have come away with the victory in the last two meetings. In 2005, Bucknell clinched a playoff berth with a thrilling 4-3 win against Navy in Lewisburg. Senior Krista Lee Gentile (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) completed her hat trick with the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 88th minute after the Mids had rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the score at three. Then in 2006, in Annapolis, Md., the Bison clinched their share of the Patriot League regular season title as the squad handed 14th-ranked Navy its first loss of the season by a 2-1 margin. The result ended a 19-game winning streak for the Mids.

Last Time Out
- Junior Jennifer Dervarics (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) gave the Bucknell women's soccer team a 1-0 advantage in the 80th minute, but it wasn't enough as the Orange and Blue fell, 2-1, to Loyola (Md.) last Sunday afternoon. At 79:48, Dervarics was awarded a penalty kick and converted the attempt for the first tally in the contest. The Bison lead was brief, however, as Christina Gomez netted the equalizer for Loyola less than two minutes later, connecting with a feed from Lea Day and Theresa Ferraina. Then, at 87:16, Lina Staropoli dribbled around a Bison defender and drove a shot into the net from 15 feet out for the deciding tally. Bucknell goalkeeper Sarah Seltzer (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) made six saves in her first collegiate start. The contest also marked the first career start for sophomore Erin Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington).
