Four Bucknell Field Hockey Players Earn All-Patriot League Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Four Bucknell field hockey players were named to the 2007 All-Patriot League team, the league announced on Wednesday. Junior Amanda Faust (Kingston Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and sophomore Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) were selected first-team all-league while senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) and junior Steph Graf (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) notched second-team all-league honors.
Faust made first-team all-league for the second time in her career; she earned a first-team nod last season, a second-team honor her freshman season and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 2005. This season, Faust started in all 17 games for the Bison and led Bucknell in both points and assists, tallying 18 points with five goals and eight assists, ranking her among the top-10 in the league for points and assists.

Additionally, Faust notched Patriot League weekly honors twice in 2007. On Sept. 4, she was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after leading Bucknell to an 8-2 victory over Monmouth with a five-point game (2g, 1a). On Sept. 24, Faust was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for being instrumental in helping the Bison collect their second shutout of the year against Saint Francis (Pa.) (4-0) on Sept.18 and post a 3-2 win in overtime over Georgetown on Sept. 22. Faust contributed one assist In each game that week and also recorded her first defensive save of the year against the Hoyas.

After posting 17 points and scoring a team-high three game-winning goals this season, Krebs earned her first all-league honor. Krebs notched two weekly awards in 2007, opening the season as Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Aug. 27 for making a 3-2 win over Kent State possible by scoring the goal that tied the score and by notching the game-winning assist in overtime. Krebs was also tabbed Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17 for posting a four-point week after notching a goal against Lock Haven (L, 6-2) and netting the game-winning score against La Salle (W, 1-0 OT).
Graf earned her third all-league honor of her career; she was also named to the second-team her freshman and sophomore years. In 2007, Graf started in all 17 games for the Bison and posted five of the squad's seven defensive saves, posting the most individual defensive saves for the league this season.

Hoffman was named to the second-team for the second time of her career after also receiving the honor in her junior season. Hoffman started in every game for the Bison and posted 17 points on the season with three assists and seven goals, including two game-winners. On Sept. 24, Hoffman earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors for tallying five points with two goals and one assist in a two-game week that featured Bucknell's 4-0 shutout over Saint Francis (Pa.) and a 3-2 win in overtime against Georgetown.
The Bucknell field hockey team closed out the 2007 season last Saturday with a 3-2 league win over Lafayette for Senior Day. The Bison finished with an 8-9 overall record and 1-4 record in the Patriot League.
