LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell field hockey team ended the 2007 regular season defeating Lafayette at home, 3-2, for Senior Day. Senior Lindsey Weller (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) notched the game-winning goal for Bucknell, to move the Bison to 8-9 on the season and 1-4 Patriot League play.
The Leopards (8-10, 2-3 PL) took the early lead when Maggie Condon went unassisted at three minutes, 48 seconds into the contest for a hard shot from the top of the circle.
Bucknell tied the score at the 6:55 mark. Following a penalty corner, junior Steph Graf (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) fed the ball to sophomore Megan Krebs (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) who assisted on junior Amanda Faust's (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) fifth goal of the year.
The Bison took a 2-1 lead in the 16th minute when senior Katie Leinen (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) tapped the ball in the cage off an assist by senior Kelly Hoffman (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley) for her second tally of the season.
Weller's goal came in the 42nd minute of play off an assist from Faust. Lafayette narrowed Bucknell's lead to 3-2 at 47:34 when Cara Lyons went unassisted on a hard shot right in front of the goal. The Bison held the Leopards off for the remaining 22 minutes of play to come away with the win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jessie Atieh (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) made three saves for the Bison, while Graf recorded her fifth defensive save of the year. Lafayette's goalkeeper Kelsey Anderson made three saves in the contest.
