Bucknell Men's Tennis Closes Out Day One At ITA Regionals

PRINCETON, N.J. - On the first day of the ITA Northeastern Regional Championships, the Bucknell men's tennis team had a singles athlete and a doubles pair advance to the second round, to be played on Saturday.
Junior Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) opened the weekend with an 8-5 win over Luka Djordjevic and Matt Wacks of Hofstra in the first round, bringing the pair's doubles record to 12-2 on the season. Additionally, Friday's win moved Sandburg to a 57-28 career doubles record, to tie senior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) for the all-time doubles victories record at Bucknell.
Brenner and Sandburg will face Chris Lee and Basu Ratnam of Brown on Saturday. Lee and Ratnam had a bye in the first round and are seeded fifth in the tournament.
Reibeisen faced J.J. Gramatica of St. Peter's on Friday night in the first round of singles play for a 6-2, 6-4 win. The victory brought his singles record to 9-5 on the season as Reibeisen continues to own Bucknell's career singles record, now with 65 wins, and career combined record, now with 123 wins.
Reibeisen will go up against Nate Gorham of Brown on Saturday. Gorham had a bye in the first round.
The Bison are now set to continue play at ITA Regionals on Saturday.
