IRVINE, Calif. - Wrapping up its five-game road trip to California, the No. 15 Bucknell men's water polo team lost 13-9 to Concordia (Calif.) Tuesday evening. The Bison finished 1-4 on their Fall Break trip to California and are now 12-9 this season.
Bucknell, which placed 15th of 16 teams at the highly competitive SoCal Tournament this past weekend, had a balanced scoring attack with six players netting goals against the Eagles, but Concordia held an 8-5 edge in the second half to improve to 16-8 this year.
Mark Masterson (Kihei, Hawaii/Marin), Kyle Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) and Josh Sunday (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each registered two goals to lead the Bison, while Roslyn also added one assist.
All three of Bucknell's goalies saw action in the contest, with freshman Miles Gilhuly (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) earning the start. He recorded a team-high five saves to boost his season total to 48. Gilhuly played the first half, while Luke Belenky (Kensington, Md./German School) and Nick Donahue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lawrenceville) each saw one quarter of action in the second half.
The Bison will return East this weekend for five more pivotal games as they close out the regular season. They will open the weekend with their third meeting of the season with Navy Friday night at 8 p.m. That contest will take place in Annapolis, Md.
