Two Bison Tabbed in Amateur Wrestling News Preseason Rankings

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomores Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) and David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central) received recognition from Amateur Wrestling News recently as the pair earned spots in the publication's preseason rankings. Both Bison grapplers enter 2007-08 off successful freshmen campaigns that yielded NCAA-qualifying performances.
Rendos was tabbed 15th at 165 pounds, placing him fourth among EIWA wrestlers on the list, behind Steve Anceravage of Cornell (No. 4), Michael Cannon of American (No. 5) and Andrew Flanagan of Harvard (No. 10). As a freshman in 2006-07, Rendos set a Bucknell record for dual meet victories, finishing with a mark of 19-2 in duals. Overall, he went a team-best 27-6 on the year and qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third-place finish at the EIWA Championships.
Marble, who wrestles at 133 pounds, was picked 17th at his weight and was the third-ranked EIWA wrestler, behind only Joe Baker of Navy (No. 9) and Seth Ciasulli of Lehigh (No. 14). In his first season with the Orange and Blue, Marble finished with a 16-6 dual meet record in 2006-07 and was 6-1 against EIWA opponents. Marble posted an overall record of 24-13 and earned a wild card berth into the NCAA Championships after placing sixth at EIWAs.
Bucknell will hold wrestle-offs on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 7:30 in Davis Gym, which will be open to the public. The Bison will then kick off their 2007-08 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Navy Classic in Annapolis, Md.
