No. 15 Bucknell Men's Water Polo Posts 11-6 Win Over Pomona Pitzer

IRVINE, Calif. - The Bucknell men's water polo team, ranked 15th nationally, ended a six-game losing streak Sunday afternoon by defeating Pomona Pitzer 11-6 in its final game at the SoCal Tournament. The Bison finished 15th in the competitive 16-team field that featured 14 nationally ranked squads.
Bucknell (12-8), which lost its first three games of the weekend by a combined six goals, outscored Pomona Pitzer 5-2 in the second half to seal the victory.
Jason Rechel (Columbus, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) posted three goals and two assists for a team-high five points, while Richie Hyden (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich) and Mark Masterson (Kihei, Hawaii/Marin) registered two goals apiece. Kyle Roslyn (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) contributed three assists to the winning effort.
Freshman goalie Miles Gilhuly (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte), making his second start of the weekend, made 10 saves, the second-highest total of his career. He played parts of all four games this weekend and totaled 27 saves.
The Bison defense was strong in front of Gilhuly, recording 10 steals. Sean Coghlan (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) and Roslyn each had two steals to lead the team.
Bucknell will wrap up its Fall Break trip to California Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. Eastern against Concordia.
