WEST POINT, N,Y. - Senior Krista Lee Gentile (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) had a hand in both goals, helping the Bucknell women's soccer team to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Army on Sunday afternoon. With the victory, the Bison improve to 7-6-0 overall and remain undefeated in Patriot League play at 3-0-0. The Black Knights fall to 6-6-1 following the loss, with a record of 2-1-0 in league contests.
Army capitalized on a free kick opportunity 10:08 into the match as Caroline Miller sent the ball into the box for Sarah Goss who knocked it home to give the Black Knights a 1-0 advantage.
Then, at 21:04, Gentile netted the equalizer, connecting with a feed from sophomore Molly Linhart (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) at close range to tally her fourth of the season, which moved her into third in Bison history for career points with 77.
Freshman Kelliann Doherty (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) later scored the game-winner, her second of the season, in the 30th minute, driving the ball past Black Knights' goalkeeper Alex Lostetter off a rebound. Gentile, who took the initial shot, picked up the assist on the play.
That would be all the Bison would need as sophomore goalkeeper Kathryn Sutton (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) held Army off the board the rest of the way, making six saves in the second half for a total of seven in the contest. Lostetter finished with seven saves as well for the Black Knights, who trailed in shots to the Orange and Blue by a 21-12 margin. Bucknell led in corner kicks, 7-0, and fouls were 14-7 against the Bison.
Bucknell will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Bison will travel Hamilton, N.Y., to face Colgate in a Patriot League match at 7 p.m.
