FARMINGDALE, N.Y. --Rahul Desai (Avon, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford School) shot a 1-over-par 71 and Brian Poe (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and Brian Bartow (Rye, N.Y./Rye Neck) both carded 72s to lead the Bucknell men's golf squad to a second-place finish out of 14 teams at the Hofstra Invitational, which finished up Saturday at the par-70 Red Course at Bethpage State Park.
Desai was 3-over for the tournament and finished in third place individually, three strokes off the lead. Poe shot 74-72 and tied for sixth.
Also for Bucknell, Stuart Lindgren (Richfield, Minn./Richfield) posted his second straight 75, while Andrew Cohen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) shot 76.
Bucknell's final-round 290 was 10 strokes better than its first round score, but it wasn't quite enough to catch Siena, which won with a final-round 287 and 36-hole total of 587. First-round leader Delaware shot 296 on Saturday and finished four shots behind Bucknell. Hofstra (600) placed fourth, while Laval and Fordham tied for fifth at 610.
Siena's Dan Abbondandolo defeated Fordham's Nico Mizono in a playoff to capture the individual title.
Bucknell will be back in action next weekend at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club, site of next spring's Patriot League Championship.
