Bucknell Men's Tennis Advances Two Doubles Teams To Main Draw Semifinal At Quinnipiac

Hamden, Conn. - The Bucknell men's tennis team kicked off a three-day weekend at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Friday, playing two rounds of doubles, advancing a pair to the semifinal in the main draw of both Flight A and Flight B.
In Flight A doubles, the Bison team of senior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) and freshman Anton Kovic (Montreal, Canada/Milton Academy - Mass.) won two matches and will advance to the semifinal, to be played on Saturday. Reibeisen and Kovic defeated Weinstein and DeMeo of BU (9-7) in the first round and Dorfman and Cote of Rhode Island in the quarterfinal round (8-2). The duo will face Hughes and Feldman of Quinnipiac tomorrow for the semifinal.
Also in Flight A doubles, senior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and freshman Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) dropped their first match to Goldstein and Schueler of UConn (8-4), but advanced to the semifinal round of the consolation bracket after defeating McDonnell and Ujkic of Sacred Heart (8-4) in a back draw match.
In Flight B doubles, the Bison pair of junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif/Canyon) and sophomore Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) advanced to the semifinal round of the main draw, to be played on Saturday. Sandburg and Hascoe went 8-6 over Bobitski and Ribchinsky of UConn in the first round and topped Simmons and Nelson of Rhode Island (8-2) in the quarterfinal. The duo will face Kasyanov and Conrad of Sacred Heart in the semifinal tomorrow.
Bucknell's junior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and junior Jamie Watson (Darien, Conn./Darien) dropped their first match in Flight B doubles to McGuire and Gart of Rhode Island (8-2), but won a back draw match against Wilbur and Kelly of Fairfield to advance to the semifinal in the consolation bracket for Flight B.
The Quinnipiac Invitational will continue Saturday and run through Sunday, Oct. 14. Tomorrow's competition will consist of two singles rounds and one doubles round.
