Bucknell Field Hockey Drops Close Match to Towson

Towson outshot Bucknell in the first half 13-3 but held the Tigers scoreless. In the second, Towson jumped on the board first with a goal ten yards out from senior Kim McEwen with 13:34 left in the half. One minute later, freshman Christine Boarman added another goal on a give-and-go fast break assisted by senior Kajee Murangi. With one minute to go in the half, the Bison scored their first goal of the match when senior Callista Costopoulos (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) took a shot from senior Alex Kyzmir (Lisle, N.Y./Whitney Point) and junior Katie Leinen (West Chester, Pa./West Chester West) pass the goalkeeper to cut the score down to 2-1.
Bucknell was outshot 31-11 in the match. Senior Emily Groendyke (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) recorded a career high 13 saves while Urosevich notched her fourth goal of the season. The Bison will return to action on Saturday, September 9, when they play Siena College. Start of the match will begin at 12 p.m.
