LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Monday, The Patriot League announced that sophomore Steph Graf (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) and freshman Megan Krebs (Wilkes Barre, Pa./G.A.R Memorial) earned weekly honors for their performances against Saint Francis (Pa.) last Wednesday night. In addition, senior Katie Urosevich (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) was cited for the league's honorable mention list.
Graf earned her second Defensive Player of the Week award for helping the Bucknell to its 10-2 victory over the Red Flash as the Bison defense held Saint Francis to zero shots in the second half. Graf also recorded her first defensive save and an interception.
"This is a wonderful recognition for Steph because she is one of the premier defenders in our league," said head coach Heather Lewis. "She is such a steady player that you won't notice her in the stats. Where you'll notice her is at the end of the game and you realize our opponent has had limited shots or quality scoring opportunities. No doubt, that is a result of Steph's patience and defensive understanding."
Krebs was tabbed Rookie of the Week. She recorded her first collegiate goal while also collecting two positive tackles and an interception against Saint Francis.
"I'm happy that Megan is receiving some recognition for her outstanding play. It's not easy to adapt to this level of hockey and make significant contributions in your first season. To see Megan make the transition so easily and to see her be a key figure in our midfield is a tribute to just how good a player she really is."
Urosevich earned her second straight honorable mention accolade. She led the Bison with two goals and an assist in their victory against the Red Flash.
"Right now Katie is one of our more consistent players on the field and for her to be recognized on the 'Honorable Mention' list for second consecutive week is an indication of her reliability and importance to our squad."
The Orange and Blue return to action as the team faces off against Towson on Wednesday Sept. 6 in Towson, Md., with the match beginning at 7 p.m.
