LEWISBURG, Pa. - Following a two-goal performance to lead the Bucknell men's soccer team to a victory in its home opener Sunday, freshman forward Nathan LaGrave (Okinawa, Japan/Kadena) was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week Monday. He is the first Bison to be cited by the league office this season.
Making his first career start, LaGrave wasted no time in getting the Bison on the scoreboard during their 3-1 win over St. Bonaventure when he chipped the ball into the goal just 3 minutes, 53 seconds into the contest. Less than 18 minutes later LaGrave headed in a ball off a free kick to stake Bucknell to a commanding 2-0 advantage.
LaGrave, who had attempted just two shots entering Sunday's contest, became the first Bison player to net two goals in one match since Scott Visnic totaled two during a 3-2 win over NJIT in September of 2004. Courtesy of his effort against the Bonnies, LaGrave is the team leader in both goals (2) and points (4).
LaGrave will try to lead the Bison when they travel to Loretto, Pa., Wednesday for a tilt with Saint Francis (Pa.). Kick off is slated for 4 p.m.
