LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's soccer team added to its honors Monday when the Patriot League announced Joey Kuterbach (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) as the league's Goalkeeper of the Week and Conor O'Brien (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./St. Anthony's) as the Rookie of the Week. Both players were cited for the first time this season as the Bison posted a 2-0-0 mark last week with a 1-0 win over St. Peter's and a 2-0 conference win against Army.
Conor O'Brien became the third consecutive Bison to earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week accolades Monday. |
O'Brien is the third consecutive Bison to earn Rookie of the Week honors, following Nathan LaGrave and Chris Hennings. He tallied his first career point when he assisted on Alex Russo's game-winning goal in the closing minutes of the win against St. Peter's last Wednesday. The midfielder increased his offensive output against Army, registering another assist and his first career goal.
Bucknell returns to non-league play Wednesday, Sept. 27, when it hosts Princeton at 7 p.m. at Varsity Soccer Field. The Bison enter the match on an eight-game unbeaten streak, their longest since the program record of 14 was set in 1974.
