Bucknell Women's Golf Completes Second Round With 314 At Nittany Invitational

STATE COLLEGE. Pa. - The Bucknell women's golf squad completed the second round of the Nittany Lion Invitational Saturday, posting a 314 score, matching the program record set last spring at the Big South Championships. The two-day total puts the Bison in sixth place with a score of 648, just 27 strokes from the leader, Penn State.
Led by a terrific 3-over-par 75 from junior Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), the Bison climbed from ninth place all the way to sixth after posting the fourth-best second-round total in the 14-team field. Kathryn Batchelor (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) followed up her first round score of 80 by posting a 79. Senior Teri Schlang (Irvine, Calif./University) and sophomore Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) both shot 80, while Emily Chiodo (Straburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) notched an 81.
The overall leader after round two is Evelyn Paik of Penn State, who shot a 3-over 75 on the day. The Nittany Lions shot 307 as a team in the second reound and at 621 for the tournament have an 8-shot lead on second-place Washington (629). UNC Greensboro (635), Yale (636) and Rollins (639) are the only other teams ahead of the Bison (648) with 18 holes still to come on Sunday. Bucknell is four shots clear of seventh-place Boston College.
The final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational will be Sunday at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. Tee times begin at 8 a.m.
