LEWISBURG, Pa. - In what is becoming routine, a Bucknell men's soccer freshman was honored by the Patriot League on Monday. Chris Hennings (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, making him the second consecutive Bison to pick up the award, following classmate Nathan LaGrave. LaGrave was also the PL Offensive Player of the Week two weeks ago.
Hennings tallied his first career goal Saturday during a 2-0 win at Holy Cross. The score came in the 77th minute and broke a scoreless tie. Hennings won a tackle and scored from about 20 yards.
The goal increased Hennings' point total to three this season, which is tied for fourth on the squad. He assisted on Kevin Holmes' game-tying score in the season-opener against Binghamton for his first career point.
Hennings and the rest of the Bison, who are unbeaten over their last six games for the first time since 1993, conclude their three-match road trip Wednesday at St. Peter's. Bucknell returns home Saturday for a Patriot League contest with Army at Varsity Soccer Field.
