The Bucknell men's cross country squad competed in the Lock Haven Invitational Saturday afternoon in Lock Haven, Pa. In the invitational, the Bison ran against Penn, Penn State, La Salle, Lock Haven, St. Joseph's, West Chester, and the Penn State club team. The Orange and Blue placed third of eight teams in the meet.
Leading the way for Bucknell was senior Matt Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) who finished fifth of 111 runners with a time of 32:21.32. Sophomore Donald Sanner (Meyersdale, Pa./Meyersdale) crossed the finish line in 32:54.49, which was good for 15th overall. Right behind Sanner in 16th place was junior teammate Andrew Corral (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) with a time of 32:59.84. Sophomore Joe Foley (Howell, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) and junior Mike Gibney (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) wrapped up the Bison top five, finishing 21st and 22nd, with times of 33:11.74 and 33:12.21, respectively.
"I was very pleased with the third-place finish," said Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner. "We had a big shake up in our lineup when compared to the Bison Open. Some of our guys handled the ten kilometers very well while others struggled quite a bit. If we could put together a good solid race from everybody, I think we could be a really good team."
The Orange and Blue will be back in action in Altoona, Pa., to race in the Penn State-Altoona Invitational on Sept. 23., beginning at 10:30 a.m.
