Bucknell Men's Cross Country Team Posts Third-Place Finish at Patriot League Championship

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's cross country team tallied a third-place finish at the Patriot League Championships on Saturday afternoon. Senior Matt Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) led the Bison with a third-place finish with a time of 25 minutes, 36 seconds as the team registered a score of 80 points behind American (25) and Navy (69). Behind the Bison, Army (99), Lehigh (119), Colgate (169), Lafayette (203) and Holy Cross (205) finished fourth though eighth.
Forys improved on his 24th-place finish in last year's championships while the Bison finished two spots better in the team competition. Bucknell still holds the overall lead in Patriot League titles with six with its last title coming in 1999. The last individual title won by a Bison was in 2002 by Bryan Johnston.
Juniors Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Al./Montgomery Academy) and Andrew Corral (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) posted a ninth-place and 16th-place finish for the Orange and Blue. Campbell crossed the line with a time of 26:26, Corral crossed the plane at 26:49. Junior Michael Gibney (Wading River, N.J./Shoreham Wading River) and sophomore Donald Sanner (Meyersdale, Pa./Meyersdale) rounded out the Bison top five. Gibney collected a 22nd-place finish with a time of 27:03, while Sanner finished 30th with a time of 27:23.
"Our men ran their best Patriot League championship in a few years," said Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner. "I was very proud of how they performed."
The Bucknell men's cross country team will compete in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Nov. 11, at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa., beginning at 12:15 p.m. The Bison finished 15th overall in the event.
