2006 BUCKNELL FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
LEWISBURG, Pa. - With the start of the 2006 Bucknell football season just under two months away, fans are reminded that reserved season ticket packages are now on sale for only $50. The Bison will play six home games this season, including the first three contests of the season under the lights at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
To order season football tickets, fans can call 570-577-1000 or stop by the Weis Center Box Office on Monday-Friday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Bucknell opens the 2006 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Duquesne at 7 p.m. That will be Take a Kid to the Game Night along with a tee shirt giveaway. Also, as will be the case for the first five home games this season, the Kids Bison Land play area will be open beginning one hour prior to kickoff.
On Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. the Bison host defending Patriot League co-champion Lafayette in a pivotal early-season conference clash. A large crowd is expected for this one, as there will be no charge for general admission seats as part of Community Day festivities. At halftime of the Lafayette game there will be a ceremony honoring the 1996 Bucknell football team on the 10th anniversary of its Patriot League championship. For Bucknell students, faculty and staff, an all-campus picnic is being planned to precede the game.
A week later it will be Turn Back the Clock Night at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium when Cornell visits for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Reduced ticket and concession prices will be in effect, as well as other fun "throwback" activities. At halftime, the Bucknell men's basketball team will be honored with the presentation of their 2006 championship rings.
Following a pair of road games at Richmond and Marist, the Bison return home on Oct. 7 to take on Ivy League power Penn at 1 p.m. on Homecoming Day. In addition to the heavy itinerary of Homecoming functions around campus that day, the 28th class of the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame will be honored at halftime.
Two road Patriot League contests follow at Georgetown and Lehigh, then the Bison are back home on Oct. 28 to take on conference rival Fordham at 1 p.m. That is Parents' Weekend at Bucknell, and following the game there will be a Junior Bison Club party that includes an autograph session with Bison players.
The Bison play at Holy Cross on Nov. 4 followed by an off week, then they conclude the 2006 regular season against league foe Colgate on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. That will be Coca-Cola Day at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium, and the Bucknell seniors will be saluted prior to kickoff.
Once again this season fan buses will be traveling to all Bison away contests. For more information on fan buses, please contact the Bison Club at 570-577-1771.
