Bucknell Swimming and Diving Squads Recognized as Academic All-American Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving squads both earned Academic All-American honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for posting exceptional team grade-point averages during the 2006 spring semester. On the men's side, the Bison ranked 11th in Division I, while the Bison women were 26th.
Bucknell's men's squad carried a 3.23 GPA, which met the CSCAA category of "Excellent". The teams recognized on the list are broken down into three categories: those squads with a 2.80 GPA or better meet the "Commendable" standard, 3.00 better is distinguished as "Excellent" and a 3.25 or better falls into the "Superior" category. Fellow Patriot League member American led the 80-team men's list with a 3.48 GPA, while Lafayette was 31st (3.08), Navy ranked 44th (3.02), Colgate 62nd (2.91) and Army 70th (2.879).
The Bucknell women posted a 3.37 GPA this spring, meeting the CSCAA's "Superior" standard. Georgetown led all 109 women's squads that received Academic All-American Team honors with a 3.61 GPA. Other Patriot League schools making the women's list included Lafayette in 24th (3.38), American 35th (3.32), Colgate 84th, Army 100th and Navy 109th.
In addition to excelling academically, both Bison teams enjoyed successful 2005-06 seasons in the pool as the women won their fourth consecutive Patriot League championship and the men took third at the league meet.
