LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Five Bucknell women's lacrosse student-athletes, including 2006 co-captains Rachel Prowler and Lauren Kremer, have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association Division I Academic Honor Roll.
Joining Prowler and Field on the Honor Roll are Tory Field, Erin Weinstein and Shauna Weinstein. The IWLCA honored 141 student-athletes in Division I this season. These women, all members of collegiate varsity programs, have achieved a high level of success in the classroom.
Bucknell's five selections were third-most nationally, behind Georgetown (7) and St. Bonaventure (6). Connecticut and Sacred Heart also had five.
Bucknell's team was also named one of the IWLCA's "Honor Squads" for its overall prowess in the classroom.
Prowler, a three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection and the 2006 PL Defensive Player of the Year, made the All-Academic Team for the second year in a row. Prowler, who graduated this past May, was a four-year starter who played in all 63 of Bucknell's games during her career. She finished second on the team this spring with 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers and was picked as an alternate for the North-South All-Star Game.
Kremer was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection this season. The junior scored 11 goals and dished out a career-high five assists while excelling at both ends of the field. She also ranked among the team leaders in ground balls (28), draw controls (24) and caused turnovers.
Field, another senior, had three goals and two assists this season. Erin Weinstein had five goals and five assists, while Shauna Weinstein added an assist.
Highlighted by that late five-game winning streak in which the team outscored its opponents 72-22, Bucknell finished 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League in 2006.
