Third Consecutive Patriot League Title in the Books for the Bison Women

WORCESTER, Mass. - Collecting its third consecutive outdoor title, as well as the 2005-06 cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field sweep, the Bison women completed their final day of competition at the Outdoor Patriot League Championships on Saturday, at the Hart Center Track Complex in Worcester, Mass. Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) collected the Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Meet honors.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Lauren Bricker (Greensburg, Hempfield Area) won the event with a time of 11 minutes, 14.9 seconds, while Christine Totten (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) ended up with the bronze, finishing in 11:26.40.
Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) won the hammer with a toss of 186 feet, three inches, and placed third in the shot put, marking 42-4 3/4.
Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) won the 800 with a season's best time of 2:09.97, while Jenny Stevens placed third in the 5000 with a time of 17:33.37. Stevens' time places her third on the Bucknell all-time top-10 list.
In the heptathlon, Nina Reinhardt (Northport, N.Y./Northport) scored 4453 points, placing second overall and bettering her already fourth-place standing in the school record books.
The 4x400 relay team took home the silver with a time of 3:52.68, while Sarah VandenBroek (Hyde Park, N.Y./Roosevelt) turned in a quick, personal best time of 58.56 in the 400, for a fourth-place finish overall.
In the triple jump, Nicole Ayala (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) turned in the Bison's best leap of the day, in second-place, with a mark of 38-4, placing fifth in the school record books, while Ann Doty (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) placed third, jumping 37-11 1/4, with Bricker placing fourth (37-9 1/4).
Trentacoste turned in a career weekend as she upped her school record-breaking time in the 100-hurdles to 14.23, placing second overall in the finals. She struck gold in the 400, clocking in a time of 56.71, qualifying for the ECAC's and setting the Orange and Blue's best time of the season and third-best time in the record books. Placing third in the 400-hurdles, Trentacoste also set the school's second-fastest time in the event (1:01.17).
The Orange and Blue collected 187.50 points, topping Navy in second with 132.50 and Lafayette in third with 128.
