LEWISBURG, Pa. - All-Patriot League seniors Lizzy McDaniel (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and Rachel Prowler (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter) have been selected to represent Bucknell in the 2006 Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game. The game will be played at Johns Hopkins University's Homewood Field on Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m.
McDaniel, a Second Team All-Patriot League selection, was one of two goalies named to the North squad, while Prowler, a three-time First Team All-Patriot League choice and the 2006 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, was picked as an alternate on the South team. McDaniel and Prowler were two of 49 players selected to participate in the prestigious game.
This is the first time two Bison have been selected in the same year, and McDaniel and Prowler are the fourth and fifth Bucknell players named to a North-South roster. The last was Suzanne Raffaele in 2003, while Jen Kangas (1995) and Kate McIlvain (1997) have also participated.
McDaniel, who earned all-league honors for the first time this season, played some of the best lacrosse of her career down the stretch. During Bucknell's five-game winning streak to end the regular season, she made 50 saves and allowed only 22 goals, good for a save percentage of .694 and a miniscule goals-against average of 4.40. In a 14-5 victory over American that propelled the Bison into the Patriot League Tournament, McDaniel finished with 15 saves and allowed only one goal in the game's final 36:44.
On the season McDaniel ranked second in the league in saves per game (10.6), second in save percentage (.517) and third in goals-against average (9.81). At the national level, McDaniel ranks 11th in save percentage.

Since the All-Patriot League Team was divided into a first and second team in 1999, Prowler became the first Bucknell player to be a first-team choice three times. She was also the third Bucknellian to be named defensive player of the year, following in the footsteps of Laura Hagan in 1995 and Nicole Kallis in 2003.
A four-year starter who played in all 63 of Bucknell's games during her career, Prowler enjoyed another outstanding season in 2006. She finished second on the team with 38 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers.
Highlighted by that late five-game winning streak in which the team outscored its opponents 72-22, Bucknell finished 7-10 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League in 2006.
