Ashley Beans Named Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Ashley Beans (Hanover, Pa./Hanover) on Tuesday was named the Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week, marking the second consecutive week a Bison was cited, following Meaghan Haley last week. Beans hit .385 and stole five bases last week.
After starting the week off slowly with just four hits in 17 at bats, Beans exploded for a 6-for-9 performance during Monday's doubleheader split with Holy Cross. She recorded four infield singles in the first game of the twinbill, and followed that up with two more singles that sneaked through the infield in the second game. The slap-hitter also stole three bases in the doubleheader and scored three runs.
Overall last week, Beans was a perfect 5-for-5 in steals and scored five runs. She was 10-for-26 at the plate with all 10 hits being singles.
Beans also played a flawless outfield, recording 11 putouts in center field last week, including four in the second game of Monday's doubleheader.
Bucknell plays its final non-league series of the season Wednesday when it travels to Newark, Del., to face Delaware in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m.
