LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's tennis team (9-12, 3-2 PL) fell to Delaware, 5-2, on Tuesday afternoon on the Bucknell tennis courts in Lewisburg, Pa., in the final match of the season. The Bison started the match off strong by collecting the doubles point, but just could not collect enough singles matches to seal the win.
The pair of Chelsea Mills (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Caitlin Baffa (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) won their doubles match in the No. 2 slot, 8-5, while Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) and JoAnna Grossman (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) won in the No. 3 spot, 8-6.
Winning the lone singles match for the Orange and Blue was Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates), in the No. 2 spot over Amanda Campbell, 6-4, 6-4.
For Mills, along with Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) who saw action in No. 1 doubles, this match served as their final contest for Bucknell, ending a very successful four-year career with the Bison. Brown ended her term as Bucknell's new career combined victories leader with 158, while Mills ended fourth on the list with 122.
