LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's rowing team wraps up its home schedule Saturday on the Susquehanna River in Shamokin Dam, Pa. The Bison are slated to face Cincinnati and West Virginia at 9 a.m., and Buffalo and Patriot League foe Colgate at 4 p.m.
Bucknell should face stiff challenges from all four opponents. It is the first time the Bison have ever faced Cincinnati, while they saw West Virginia at the season-opening Murphy Cup. Colgate took second in last year's Patriot League Championship, just seven points ahead of Bucknell, which trailed the Raiders by just one point entering the final race.
The Bison are coming off a successful home weekend against George Mason, Temple and Delaware. In a successful day of racing last Saturday, the second varsity eight and varsity four took home wins in their respective events, while the varsity eight fell to Temple in the heats, but took out Delaware by more than 20 seconds in the final. The novice eight finished a few seconds back of George Mason for third, and the second varsity four had an impressive showing, beating Delaware and George Mason to finish second behind only Bucknell's varsity four.
Following Saturday's busy schedule, the Bison head to Worcester, Mass., to compete in the second-ever Patriot League Championship on Lake Quinsigamond. The five-team championship is scheduled for next Sunday, April 30.
