Varsity Eight Takes Third in Petite Final at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Bucknell's varsity eight boat completed the San Diego Crew Classic Sunday with a third-place finish in the petite final of the Women's Cal Cup on Mission Bay. The Bison beat out in-state foes Temple, Villanova and Lehigh in the six-boat final.
One day after claiming third in its heat, the Bison matched that feat in the petite final, finishing in 6 minutes, 56.51 seconds. St. Mary's won the race in 6:51.00, while Wisconsin's lightweight eight took second in 6:52.91.
Bucknell edged out fourth-place Temple by more than two seconds, while Villanova and Lehigh each timed in at more than seven minutes.
Bucknell's boat was made up of 8-Kelly Henkler, 7-Jennie Trayes, 6-Kate Brewster-Duffy, 5-Christine Drasba, 4-Brittany Kaplan, 3-Page Kannor, 2-Lauren Olsen and 1-Sophie Bird.
The Bison will row at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, N.C., Saturday, April 8.
