LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler), of Bucknell women's outdoor track and field, was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week for her performance in the pole vault on Saturday, April 15, at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Buczko won the event with a leap of 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches, surpassing the ECAC Championship qualifying height and hitting the exact qualifying mark for the NCAA Eastern Regional Championships. The height also served as her best mark of the season.
Also at the Classic, Buczko placed third in the 100-meter hurdles and clocked a time of 14.57 seconds, marking a personal best and placing her fourth on the Orange and Blue's top-10 list.
So far this season, the junior has been undefeated in the pole vault, winning three individual titles.
Buczko and the rest of Bucknell track and field will return to action on Saturday, April 22, at the Bucknell Quadrangular, at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa.
