LEWISBURG, Pa. - Defending Patriot League champion Colgate received four goals from Megan Janson and three from Anne Coomber in a 13-3 defeat of Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at blustery Graham Field. Bonnie Buechel scored twice for the Bison, while Lizzy McDaniel made 19 saves, one shy of her career high.
Colgate (7-4, 3-0 Patriot League) broke open a 1-1 game midway through the opening half with four goals in a span of just 4:27. Coomber, Janson, Tara Casey and Katie McVeigh all scored in succession to make it 5-1. The Raiders then finished the half with another flurry, this time scoring five times in the final 3:17. Coomber's goal with 15 seconds remaining made it 10-1 at the half.
The Raiders scored twice more in the opening four minutes of the second half to go up 12-1. Buechel and Jackie Bodnar scored for Bucknell (2-8, 0-3) later in the half before Amanda Bradshaw finished the scoring for Colgate with 6:30 to play.
The Raiders outshot the Bison 27-3 in the first half and 45-13 for the game. The time of possession was just as one-sided, as Bucknell's defense was in action most of the day. When the Bison did make a stop, they converted only 47.8 percent (11-23) of their clears.
McDaniel's 19 saves marked a season high. He career high of 20 saves came in a home game against Drexel in 2004. Colgate goalie Sue Bielamowicz finished with eight saves.
The Bison will look to snap an eight-game losing streak on Tuesday at St. Bonaventure at 4 p.m.
