Bison Men's Track & Field Finish First Day at IC4A's

Boston, Mass. - The Bucknell men's track and field team completed its first day of competition at the competitive 2006 IC4A Championships, held at the Boston University Track and Field Pavilion in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, March 4. The 4x400-meter relay team clocked in a time of 3 minutes, 15.51 seconds and set a new school record.
The relay team, consisted of freshman Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa.), senior Matt Corbetta (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester), freshman Kevin Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) and junior Matt Bonelli (Califon, N.J./Pingry School), finished in 11th place overall.
Boyle beat his old school record in the 400 (48.42) with a time of 48.32, good enough for 13th place overall.
The distance medley relay team of junior Mark Caroleo (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon), sophomore Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Greengates-Chili), junior Adam Syty (East Amherst, N.Y./Clarence) and senior Kevin Brown (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) finished in 9:59.61 in the preliminaries and qualified for Sunday's finals. The squad also turned in the sixth-best time in Bison history.
Sophomore Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Acad.) finished seventh in the 3000 (8:17.24) and took Bucknell's all-time eighth-best time in the event.
In the weight throw, junior Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg), marked a heave of 56 feet, 8 1/2 inches and finished in tenth place overall.
The Championships will conclude on Sunday, March 5, with the heptathlon as the first event, starting at 9:30 a.m., and will end with the awards ceremony at 2:45 p.m.
