Bucknell Swimming and Diving Teams Earn Academic All-America Recognition

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's swimming and diving squads both earned Academic All-America team honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for posting exceptional team grade point averages during the 2005 fall semester. On the men's side, the Bison ranked 13th in Division I, while the Bison women were 15th.
Bucknell's men's squad posted a 3.14 GPA to take 13th on the 53-team list while Yale led the pack with a 3.42 GPA. Joining the Orange and Blue on the list from the Patriot League were American in sixth (3.22), Navy in 36th (2.95), and Army in 52nd (2.83).
The Bucknell women carried a 3.34 GPA last fall, good for 15th out of the 78 teams that received recognition as "All-America" teams. The Bison were tops on the list out of the Patriot League institutions as Lafayette was 18th (3.30), American took 35th (3.20) and Army ranked 65th (3.00). Eastern Michigan led the Division I women's squads with a 3.56 GPA.
In addition to excelling academically, both Bucknell teams enjoyed successful 2005-06 seasons in the pool as the women won their fourth-consecutive Patriot League championship and the men took third at the league meet.
