STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Senior Kyle Walter (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) continued his hot hitting, going 6-for-7 at the plate in Sunday's doubleheader, but the Bucknell baseball team dropped both games to Stony Brook by the scores of 5-2 and 10-6. With the pair of losses, the Bison now hold a 6-12 overall record while the Seawolves are 3-14.

Walter recorded two stolen bases in game two as well, to bring his season total to five, a new career high.
In game one, Stony Brook scored once in both the second and the third innings and plated three in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Isidro Fortuna opened the second inning with a triple and came home on a single by Peter Milani for the Seawolves' first run. Chris Sipp's double brought in Keith Fier in the third. Then in the fourth inning, Robert Leonard drove in Fortuna and Milani with a triple and scored the team's final run on a groundout.
Bucknell began to mount a comeback as Walter led off the sixth inning with a triple and scored on a double by sophomore Jason Buursma (Seattle Wash./Lakeside School). The following batter, junior Ryan Gryskevicz (Dallas, Pa./Dallas), reached on an error to give the Bison two on and no outs, but Kris Bakey escaped the inning with two strikeouts and a groundout.
In the seventh, Walter cut Bucknell's deficit to 5-2 with a one-out double that plated freshman Dane Grandizio (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg), but that would be all for the Orange and Blue as Gary Novakowski closed out the inning and recorded the save for Stony Brook.
Junior Nathan Mittag (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) started for the Bison and took the loss (1-3). He pitched 3.1 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits with one walk. Bakey registered the win (1-3) for the Seawolves as he pitched 6.1 innings and allowed two runs on eight hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
In game two, Stony Brook managed to put the first run on the board as Fortuna opened the second inning with a double and later scored on a single by Jon Pasieka.
Bucknell answered by knotting the score at one in the top of the third with a sacrifice fly by Walter that brought in senior Chris Grandizio (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) who reached with a leadoff double, but the Seawolves promptly jumped back in front with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Bison cut their deficit to 4-3 in the fourth as Grandizio belted his second double of the contest to plate sophomore Ed Rubbo (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and sophomore Austin Turban (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) drove in Grandizio with a single.
Then in the bottom half of the inning, Stony Brook took one of the runs back and followed with four more in the fifth inning to extend its lead to 9-3.
