Bucknell Swimming and Diving Earns Two Patriot League Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior diver Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and junior swimmer Rebecca Scheffter (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) each earned weekly awards from the Patriot League, the league office announced on Tuesday. Freeman was honored as Male Diver of the Week and Scheffter was named the league's Female Swimmer of the Week.
Scheffter took home two individual wins in Bucknell's 184-123 victory over Lehigh last Saturday as she captured first in the 50 free with a time of 24.91 and won the 100 free in 53.69, her seventh victory in the event this season and fifth in five straight meets. She was also part of both winning relays for the Bison as the 200-yard medley relay swam a first-place time of 1:51.52 and the 400-yard free relay finished first in 3:38.93.
Freeman was victorious in the one-meter diving event with a mark of 200.78 and was one of two individual event winners for the Orange and Blue in a 170.5-129.5 setback for the Bison men against Lehigh. He also scored 291.90 points in the three-meter against the Mountain Hawks to capture the runner-up spot in the event.
Bucknell will next compete on Saturday, February 11, when the teams will travel to Annapolis, Md., to take part in the Navy Invitational beginning at 11 a.m.
