Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Tops Lehigh, 184-123

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Rebecca Scheffter (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) captured two individual wins and helped two relays to first-place finishes as the Bucknell women's swimming and diving squad defeated Lehigh, 184-123, in Patriot League action on Saturday.
Scheffter captured the top spot in the 50 free and the 100 free with times of 24.91 and 53.69, respectively. She was also a part of the 200 medley relay team along with senior Lectie Altman (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham), sophomore Emily Wichryk (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk) and senior Mary Krakowski (Erie, Pa./McDowell) that took first with a time of 1:51.52 and teamed with sophomore Lauren Butrie (Orefield, Pa./Parkland), freshman Susan Horstmann (Havertown, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), and freshman Alexandra Lovallo (Ridgefield, Conn.) to win the 400 free relay in 3:38.93.
Altman was a double-winner for the Bison as well, with her first-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 59.60 and remained undefeated on the year in the 200 back, recording her eighth victory of the season in the event with a time of 2:06.33. She also turned in a third-place showing in the 100 fly (1:01.19) to complete a one-two-three Bucknell sweep in the event, behind Krakowski in first with a time of 59.42 and senior Lauren Reed (South Plainfield, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) in second with a time of 1:00.86.
Junior Nikki Woodward (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) captured the top spot in the 200 breast in 2:26.79 and took second in both the 200 fly (2:11.94) and the 200 IM (2:13.76). Her classmate, Laura Goeller (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill School), won the 200 IM in 2:12.13 and finished third in both the 100 back with a time of 1:02.08 and in the 200 back with a time of 2:11.18.
Wichryk won the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.03 and was third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:31.23, while junior Katherine Munson (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) took first in the 200 fly in 2:09.63 and swam the 200 IM in 2:15.35 to finish third.
Junior Carlyn Donley (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and freshman Ally St. Claire (Sliver Spring, Md.) rounded out Bucknell's individual winners on the day as Donley posted a victory in the 500 free (5:13.65) and St. Claire had a first-place performance in the 1000 free with a time of 10:45.27.
On the boards for the Orange and Blue, sophomore Lauren Thomas (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) took second in the one-meter dive with a mark of 200.78 and scored 196.43 points in the three-meter dive, good for third in the event.
Bucknell will next compete on Saturday, February 11, when the team will travel to Annapolis, Md., to compete in the Navy Invitational beginning at 11 a.m.
