LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's water polo team saw its five-game winning streak snapped as No. 16 Hartwick beat it 10-2 Saturday afternoon at the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison, who defeated Siena earlier in the day, split their two games Saturday and are 8-2 this season.
Hartwick jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Elizabeth Jensen (San Mateo, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) scored the first of her two goals with 57 seconds remaining in the first period. That was Bucknell's last goal until Jensen scored again midway through the third quarter after Hartwick had built a 7-1 lead.
Mandy Bynum (San Jose, Calif./Leland) kept the game close as she made 11 saves and garnered two steals.
Bronwen Knox, who was leading the country in goals scored entering the weekend, netted a game-high six goals for Hartwick.
Bucknell wraps up play at the Bucknell Invitational Sunday at 1:50 p.m. against St. Francis (N.Y.). The Bison will be aiming to complete the weekend with a 3-1 record.
