Women's 200 Medley Relay
At last year's Championship, Bucknell won the 200 medley relay with a meet and program-record time of 1:43.99. This year, the relay team of Altman, Woodward, Krakowski and Scheffter swam a team season-best time of 1:48.93 in the event against Navy and Lafayette, good for ninth in the program's record books. The Bison rank fourth in the League going into the meet while Navy ranks first with a time of 1:45.93.
Men's 200 Medley Relay
The team of Kawczenski, Bennett, Kretzer and Grant Steadman has the second-best time in the league in this event this season as they swam a 1:34.68 against Columbia, just .01 of a second off the top time posted by Army. At the 2004-05 league meet, Bucknell took home third in the 200 medley relay with the second-best time in program history, 1:32.23.
Women's 400 IM
2004-05 400 IM champion Goeller will be in contention to win the event for a second-straight year. Along with Woodward, the pair of teammates took the top two spots in the event last season, posting times of 4:28.04 and 4:29.32 that currently sit second and third in the Bucknell record books. Among the top times in the league this season, Goeller ranks third (4:35.03) and Woodward is fifth (4:38.32) with Zahlka of Navy holding the league-best time of 4:31.01.
Men's 400 IM
Leriotis and McGraw rank fifth and seventh in the league in this event with Bucknell's two best times on the season, 4:14.25 and 4:16.41. Newcomer Billy Vey of Navy holds the top time in the league this season at 4:08.69.
Women's 100 Fly
Krakowski finished second in the 100 fly at last year's championship in 56.43, a time that ranks second all-time in program history, to earn second team All-League honors. Her season-best of 58.39 ranks second to only freshman Beverly Walker of Colgate who posted the league-best mark on the season in the dual against Bucknell (58.27). Altman, junior Katherine Munson and Reed will look to add points to the Bison total in this event as well. The trio holds the seventh, eighth and 10th-ranking times in the league. Munson and Reed finished third and fourth, respectively, in the event at last year's Championship.
Men's 100 Fly
Kretzer was named an All-League second team performer in 2004-05 after scoring 29 points in the Championship. Out of that total, 13 of his points came from his sixth-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 50.76, just off his personal-best of 50.63 which ranks fifth in program history. This season, Kretzer's time of 52.00 is sixth in the league, while Val Fomenko of American leads the pack with a time of 50.44. Crandell and Grant Steadman both represent the Bison in the league top-ten (52.81 and 52.83) as well.
Women's 200 Free
As a freshman, Altman won an individual championship in the 200 free at the league meet and holds the school record in the event with a time of 1:53.11. She finished seventh in the event at last year's Championships and her 2005-06 season-best ranks fifth in the league (1:54.55). Zahalka of Navy holds the top time at 1:51.81. Bucknell shows great depth in this event with seven swimmers holding top-20 times, more than any other school in the league.
Men's 200 Free
Bauer has the team season-best time for the Bison in the 200 free at 1:44.51, to sit ninth in the league. At the championship last season, he scored seven of his 35 points with a personal-best time of 1:43.03, which ranks ninth all-time in program history. Junior Danny Flemming has the league's best time on the year (1:40.07) and was second at the 2004-05 Championships. Freshman Chris Amato is 11th in the league with his personal-best time of 1:45.60.
Women's 100 Breast
Woodward, sophomore Emily Wichryk and freshman Nikki Seaman will battle the rest of the pack for points in the 100 breast as all three hold league top-10 times in sixth (1:07.95), eighth (1:08.53) and ninth (1:08.66). Junior Aubra Thomas of Navy won the event last year and has posted the league's top time this season at 1:04.01. Wichryk and Woodward's personal bests both are currently ranked in the Bucknell record book in second (1:07.01) and seventh (1:07.95), respectively.
Men's 100 Breast
Bennett has the best time on the year in the 100 breast for the Bison, setting a personal best and Bucknell top-10 mark (6th) in the dual against Navy and Lafayette with a time of 58.42. Senior Grant Flothmeier of Lehigh and Jake Mentlele of Army, who hold the first and second-ranked times, both edged out the Bison swimmers during the regular season, each posting wins in the event against the Orange and Blue, with Flothmeier's season-best time of 57.82 coming in Lehigh's dual against Bucknell. Senior William Schilling took home the bronze last season with a time of 57.32, which ranks third on the program top-10 list and his season-best time for this year is fifth in the league (59.17). Sophomore Joseph Metcalf has the league's ninth-ranking time of 1:00.36 and his personal-best of 58.58 is seventh in program history.
Women's 100 Back
Altman will look to repeat as 100 back champion after winning the event last season with a pool/school/meet/league record time of 56.29 to earn her third All-League first team honor. Altman's season-best time of 57.18 ranks first in the league. Munson's season-best time of 1:00.93 is sixth in the league while her personal-best (58.45) is sixth all-time in program history. She took fourth in the event at the 2004-05 Championships.
Men's 100 Back
Kretzer holds Bucknell's season-best in the 100 back with a time of 53.00 and his personal best of 50.51 is second in the school's record books. At last year's league meet, Kretzer finished seventh, to score 12 of his 29 points. Kawczenski will make his league Championship debut in the event, his season-best time of 53.30 ranks 13th. Junior Kevin Mukri of Navy has the league's top time on the season at 49.67. He took the runner-up spot in the event at the league meet last year.
Men's One-Meter, Six Dives
Senior Adam Freeman has five wins in one-meter competition this season and has finished no worse than second in the event throughout 2005-06. He holds Bucknell's record in the event with a mark of 318.15 and his season-best score of 296.55 came at the Bucknell Sprint Invitational. Freeman earned second team All-League honors last season and was the Patriot League champion in the one-meter as a sophomore. Navy's junior Kevin Teague will look to repeat last year's first place finish in the event as he edged out Freeman with a mark of 337.40 in 2004-05. Freshman Jeffrey Manning will vie for points as he has the second highest point total for a member of the Bison in the one-meter this season with a mark of 253.30 which stands third on the Bucknell all-time top-10 list.
Women's 800 Free Relay
At the 2004-05 league meet, Bucknell won the 800 free relay with a time of 1:40.85, which ranks third in the program record books. The team of Scheffter, Horstmann, Lovallo and Goeller swam a team season-best 7:52.68 against Delaware, good for 10th all-time. Navy holds the league's season-best time of 7:40.40.
Men's 800 Free Relay
Last season, the Bison took fourth in the 800 free relay, posting a program top-10 time of 6:55.12 in the event. This year, Peterman, Amato, senior Brooks Steadman and Bauer swam the team's season-best time of 7:08.57 against Delaware. Army holds the top time in the league at 6:58.99.
