Bucknell Men's Swimming and Diving Competes at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Senior Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) set a new personal-best in the three-meter and won both diving events as the Bucknell men's swimming and diving team competed at the non-scoring Navy Invitational on Saturday.
Freeman took first in the three-meter dive with a personal-best score of 301.58, which ranks third in program history. He also won the one-meter dive with a mark of 262.05. Freshman Jeffrey Manning (Bringhurst, Ind./ Carroll Jr./Sr. High) finished behind Freeman as the runner-up in both events, with a score of 229.73 in the three-meter dive and a mark of 223.42 in the one-meter dive.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Mark Kawczenski (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Hanover Area), sophomore Bradford Bennett (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area), senior Mark Kretzer (Northport, N.Y./Harborfields) and sophomore Grant Steadman (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) finished second in the event with a time of 1:37.16, while sophomore John Peterman (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor), Kawczenski, Bennett and Steadman finished second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:27.42.
Freshman Jeffrey Ayers (Randolph, N.J.) was the lone individual winner for the Bison in the swimming events, taking first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:22.18. Classmate Michael Deighan (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) and Steadman rounded out Bucknell's top finishers on the day as Deighan took second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:13.67 and Steadman finished third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.42.
Bucknell will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 23, when the team will return to Annapolis, Md., and kick off the three-day Patriot League Championships at 10:30 a.m.
