Bucknell Women's Swimming and Diving Takes Part in Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell women's swimming and diving captured eight individual and two relay wins at the non-scoring Navy Invitational on Saturday.
In the 200 free relay, freshman Susan Horstmann (Havertown, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), senior Mary Krakowski (Erie, Pa./McDowell), senior Lauren Reed (South Plainfield, N.J./Mount St. Mary Academy) and junior Rebecca Scheffter (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) took first with a time of 1:39.26. The team of senior Lectie Altman (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham), sophomore Emily Wichryk (Darlington, Pa./Blackhawk), Krakowski and Scheffter was victorious in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:50.48, while the team of junior Katherine Munson (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield), junior Nikki Woodward (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), Reed and sophomore Lauren Butrie (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) finished in second in the event with a time of 1:53.25.
The Bison swept the top four spots in the 200 free with junior Laura Goeller (Wilmington, Del./Tower Hill School) winning the event in 1:59.62, Munson taking second with a time of 1:59.74, freshman Meghan O'Neill (Donwood, Ga./Marist School) finishing third (2:02.08) and freshman Nikki Seaman (Cleveland, Ohio) placing fourth (2:03.82).
Bucknell also posted a one-two-three sweep in the 200 breast as junior Leslie DiMichele (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) came in first with a time of 2:32.21 and freshman Elizabeth Lukens (Ellicott City, Md.) and sophomore Elizabeth Molzon (Saratoga, Calif./Saratoga) were second and third with times of 2:33.04 and 2:37.13, respectively.
O'Neill captured a victory, swimming the 500 free in 5:18.82, freshman Rebecca Cottrell (San Jose, Calif.) won the 100 breast in 1:10.47, Lukens took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:46.35 and Woodward captured the top spot in the 200 back with a time of 2:16.90 to round out the individual swimming event winners for the Bison.
Scheffter and Altman each recorded runner-up finishes for the Orange and Blue, Scheffter in the 100 back (1:03.88) and Altman in the 100 free (54.91).
On the boards for Bucknell, sophomore Lauren Thomas (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) was first in the one-meter dive with a mark of 216.97 and second in the three-meter dive with a score of 204.00. Senior Victoria Fritz (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West) won the three-meter with 207.60 points and was the runner-up in the one meter with a mark of 190.50.
The Bison will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 23, when the team will begin its quest for a fourth-straight Patriot League title on day one of the Patriot League Championships at 10:30 a.m. in Annapolis, Md.
